"Invisible Hunters: Unveiling the Spotted Big Cats of Benin
Cheetahs and leopards are facing unprecedented challenges in the WAP Complex (W-Arly-Pendjari), a vast transboundary landscape shared by Burkina Faso, Niger, and Benin. Habitat loss, illegal wildlife trade, and increasing insecurity within protected areas are putting their survival at risk.
To raise awareness and inspire future conservationists, the “Cheetah or Leopard?” educational project engages primary school teachers and students in communities surrounding the WAP Complex. This initiative provides interactive and informative materials, including:

Les guépards et les léopards sont confrontés à des défis sans précédent dans le complexe WAP (W-Arly-Pendjari), un vaste paysage transfrontalier partagé par le Burkina Faso, le Niger et le Bénin. La perte d’habitat, le commerce illégal d’espèces sauvages et l’insécurité croissante au sein des aires protégées mettent leur survie en péril.
Afin de sensibiliser et d’inspirer les futurs défenseurs de l’environnement, le projet éducatif “Guépard ou léopard ?” s’adresse aux enseignants et aux élèves des écoles primaires des communautés voisines du complexe WAP. Cette initiative fournit du matériel interactif et informatif, notamment :

This project is a collaborative effort led by the Africa Range-Wide Cheetah Conservation Initiative (CCI)—a conservation program for cheetahs and African wild dogs, funded by The Howard G. Buffett Foundation and supported by the Zoological Society of London (ZSL)—in partnership with PANTHERA, the world’s largest organization dedicated to the protection of wild cats and their habitats.
Together, we aim to foster a new generation of conservation champions who will help secure a future for cheetahs and leopards in West Africa.

Buffett Foundation avec le soutien de la Zoological Society of London (ZSL) avec PANTHERA, la plus grande organisation internationale consacrée à la conservation des espèces de félins sauvages présents dans le monde et de leurs habitats.
