Building National Science Capacity

The Africa Range-Wide Cheetah Conservation Initiative believes strongly in the value and importance of strengthening in-country capacity for science and conservation in cheetah and wild dog range states across Africa. We work to achieve this through numerous ways including bolstering capacity within government wildlife authorities through our National Carnivore Coordinator Program and supporting partner organisations with projects that emphasise Community Capacity Building.

In addition, we have recently launched a scholarship fund for outstanding African MSc and PhD students. These students will be selected soon and funded to undertake their studies through any of a number of selected top African universities. The only stipulation is that their work must be broadly related to – or contribute to – cheetah conservation.

We will always prioritise working with and for national ecologists, students and governments to build national capacity for science and conservation.
